CAST MATERIAL
Synthetic cast material is a modern solution for applying lightweight, stable and comfortable casting bandages. The material is used for immobilisation, support and reinforcement in fractures, orthopaedic corrections and other medical applications.
GeniMedical offers, among other products, Cellacast® Soft from Lohmann & Rauscher: a semi-rigid synthetic casting bandage based on fibreglass fabric impregnated with polyurethane resin. This material is used when functional immobilisation is required: sufficient support and stabilisation while maintaining controlled freedom of movement wherever possible.
Synthetic cast material is often chosen when a lightweight, strong and easily mouldable casting bandage is needed. Cellacast® Soft is suitable for applying semi-rigid casting bandages after fractures, surgery or orthopaedic corrections, and for the treatment of joint and bone disorders as well as injuries to ligaments and tendons. The material conforms well to the contours of the body, remains flexible even with multiple layers, and has soft edges and cut edges.
This makes Cellacast® Soft suitable for professional use in medical environments where targeted immobilisation, efficient working and patient comfort are important. Where additional stability is required, Cellacast® Soft can be combined locally with a rigid material, such as Cellacast Xtra Splint.
